2022 Annual Conference for The US Oncology Network

Physicians across the country came together for the 2022 Virtual Annual Conference for The US Oncology Network. Nearly 300 attendees joined the four-hour event to hear the latest updates on important initiatives from physician, practice and Network leadership and learn best practices from speakers across The Network. 

 

 


2018 Annual Conference for The US Oncology Network

Physicians from across the country came together in April for The Network’s 2018 Annual Conference in Phoenix, AZ. This year’s theme, “future forward: cancer care in the community,” reflected The Network’s commitment to the spectrum of innovation, from the patient’s experience to a practice’s operations. Among the expert speakers, Tait Shanafelt, MD, of Stanford Medicine, discussed physician burnout and how we can innovate around the physician experience. Attendees were also invited to participate in an Innovation Tournament, brainstorming solutions to a number of complex issues facing community oncology practices today.

The Annual Conference was hosted in conjunction with the Spring P&T Meeting, Practice Success in The Network Workshop for New Physicians, Executive Director Meeting, and Radiation Oncology Business Meeting and Educational Symposium, bringing together a wide variety of professionals for a unique opportunity to network and exchange ideas.


COA 2018 Community Oncology Conference

Physicians and leaders from across The US Oncology Network participated in speaker panels and presented on various topics at the 2018 Communication Oncology Conference in National Harbor, MD on April 12 – 13.

Joyce O’Shaughnessy, MD of Texas Oncology weighed in on the CDK4/CDK6 Protein Coding in Breast Cancer session, Houston Holmes, MD, MBA, FACP of Texas Oncology presented on CAR-T in Community Oncology Practice, and Robert M. Rifkin, MD, FACP, medical director, Biosimilars, The US Oncology Network presented on The New World of Biosimilars: From Clinical Use to Reimbursement.

In addition, Ben Jones, vice president of Government Relations and Public Policy, The US Oncology Network, joined the Washington, D.C. Update: The Latest Legislative Issues Impacting Cancer Care & Your Practice panel discussion during the general session and Debra Patt, MD, MPH, MBA, vice president, Texas Oncology, participated in the Community Oncology 101: Key Issues Impacting Patients and Practices panel discussion.


ACCC 44th Annual Meeting & Cancer Center Business Summit

Leaders from The US Oncology Network participated in speaker panels at the ACCC 44th Annual Meeting and Cancer Center Business Summit in Washington, D.C. on March 14 – 16.

Dr. Michael Seiden, president and chief medical officer of The US Oncology Network, discussed how “big data,” workforce shortages, clinical advancements and payment reform are impacting community oncology practices nationwide. In addition, Dr. Marcus Neubauer, vice president and medical director, Payer and Clinical Services, joined the Strategies for Improving Care Coordination panel on the meeting’s quality track and Diana Verrilli, senior vice president, Strategy and Practice Solutions, took part in the Leveraging Data Collection & Quality Reporting to Drive Change panel discussion on the technology and informatics track.


Expert physicians represent The Network at the 2017 ASH Meeting and Exposition

In December, investigators from The US Oncology Network presented 20 abstracts, including four oral presentations, on clinical and health outcomes research studies they conducted at the 2017 American Society of Hematology (ASH) Meeting and Exposition.

Breast cancer experts from across The Network share research findings at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium

In December, breast cancer experts from US Oncology Research presented results from twelve clinical trials at this year’s SABCS, including three oral presentations. 


The P&T Committee and CAC Come Together for a Collaborative Meeting

In early November, the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) committee members and Clinical Advisory Council (CAC) members from across The Network gathered in Denver, CO for the first 2017 Fall P&T Committee and Clinical Advisory Council Meeting. Members from each group were asked to participate in interactive working sessions to leverage their collective multi-disciplinary care experience, transforming the way they work together as clinical teams to provide best-in-class cancer care.

Practice Leaders Gather at the 2017 Fall National Policy Board Meeting

In October, The US Oncology Network hosted the 2017 Fall National Policy Board (NPB) Meeting in The Woodlands, TX. The meeting brought together more than 100 physician and practice leaders from across The Network. They heard presentations on the future of healthcare, value-based care and policy and participated in working sessions where they discussed topics on value-based care and clinical transformation.


5th Quarterly APP On Boarding Course

29 APPs from across The Network attended a the three-and-a-half-day APP, CME certified, on boarding course in June. The course focused on key and current issues in the management of identified common cancers that are treated in community oncology practices including breast, lung and colorectal cancers and benign and malignant hematologic disorders. The workshop also included sessions on clinical pharmacology, symptom management, and an overview of The Network resources available to APPs.


APPs Gather in Houston for JADPRO Live

78 advanced practice providers (APPs) from across The US Oncology Network attended JADPRO Live at the Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology (APSHO) Conference in Houston, TX. In addition, The Network held a pre-conference meeting where APP leads hosted best practice sharing round-tables on topics such as advance care planning, immunotherapy, oral chemotherapy, genetics, research, palliative care, surgery, survivorship, and urgent care.


7th Annual G.R.E.A.T. Education Conference

In October, the 7th Annual Genetic Risk Evaluation and Testing (GREAT) Education Conference was held in Phoenix, Arizona. Attendees received updates on the rapidly advancing field of cancer genetics, hereditary cancer syndromes and high-risk recommendations for patients with hereditary syndromes, and a review of basic and complex cases. The conference was a huge success with record attendance of providers from across The US Oncology Network.
